Upcoming Guest Speaker

     Shanti Landon was elected to the Placer County Board of Supervisors in November 2022, after serving as the District Director to Placer County Supervisor Robert Weygandt for more than five years. She will speak about being a County Supervisor, what the job entails, and will also do a county update for us.

 Meeting Welcome

President Greg opened the meeting with 32 members and 24guests present. The Flag salute was led by Kimberly, and the Four Way Test was led by President Greg. Guests present were Roseville Rotarian Roxanne Snyder who introduced Speaker Meghan Adamski and Shanna Lowder. Rachel Wesp was present as guest of Richard Pearl. Greg's theme for the day included chickens. chickens, and more chickens.

Events and Committee Announcements
President Greg began with coverage of Events on the Calendar. Bryan reiterated that volunteers are needed for both October 18 and 19. Sign up Genius is now active. Membership Bryan said that he expects to induct two new members on 8/21. Richard reminded members of the Wings and Wheels event on 8/24. Volunteers are needed. New this year there will be a Rotary Booth at the event to greet potential new members, sell raffle tickets for the Tour de Lincoln Bike, and to advertise for the Community Blood Drive on 8/30. Claire discussed the Club Social 8/29 at Dueling Dogs from 5:30-7:30 or beyond. There will be a Corn Hole contest option for $10. The CH winner gets half of the participation money and the other half will go to PolioPlus. She wants members to know that food stops at 7:30.  Kris said that she hopes there will be an RYE student for 2025-2026. RYLA needs camp volunteers. She mentioned that the Cornerstone
program continues. More volunteers are needed. Some of the PROs to Cornerstone include you can pick your time for 1 day a month, students benefit, and you will have fun interacting with the children. Greg added a note that he attended the Interact BOD meeting and was very impressed with the students that he met.
Guest Speaker
  Our August 15th RCL presentation by Roxanne Snyder and Meghan Adamski re:  A Touch of Understanding workshop information can be accessed by typing in: touchofunderstanding.org.

Witnessing their workshops firsthand will give you a glimpse into how they foster compassion, understanding, kindness, respect, and inclusion in schools and communities.  Roxanne will personally assist in setting up the workshop visit and will be there to guide you through the experience.  Roxanne's email, if you want to reach out to her directly is:  roxanne@touchofunderstanding.org
