Bryan Ludwig did a great job filling in for missing President Darrell at Thursday's meeting.
The crowd was struck with Barbara DeBaptiste's introductory speech. What a fascinating life she has led as a self-professed troublemaker! She had to fight a Mayor to pilot Headstart. She has fought for improving education for youth every step of the way. She is Past President of the National Women's Hall of Fame. Most of all, she is an inspiration!
Caron Russell gave her two minute Foundation insight and announced Oct 24th will be Pints for Polio at Dueling Dogs. More on that later.
Our speakers were teacher Dan Alcorn from the Summer Sessions program who put together some creative classes for our youth during summer. One program was a three-week internship. All five student interns then spoke about their experience interning and how much they learned. This is an excellent program that they hope to double next year!
Thursday's lunch meeting will feature Larry Whitaker and the World Community Service Committee!
