The Speaker this week is Lisa Lacy Brownie. Lisa has been working with horses for over 40 years and started rescuing 25 years ago. She loves each horse's story, as all humans can relate to some degree. We look forward to hearing about her herd and how they help the community.
President Richard opened the meeting with the flag salute led by Alan (who provided the flag), and Dave B. led the Four Way Test with 29 members and 9 guests present. Guests: Linsey Graves (Josh), Ken Tornay, and Matt Tornay (all related to Josh), Brad Aronson (Kimberly), and Keela Marquiz (Darrell). Members expressed how much they have enjoyed meetings at the Fowler Brewery the past two meetings.
Clark provided an excellent history of what Paul Harris stands for, and how it is achieved, before presenting a Paul Harris + 2 to Richard Pearl and Dianne Fix. Members then recognized their accomplishments with a standing ovation.
Richard and Greg recently attended a Kiwanis Club meeting to share what Rotary does and to encourage the service clubs to help each other when possible. Clark reported that he had recently visited with Steve Snyder, PDG5190 & past RI Director. It was sad to hear that Steve's wife, Sharon, is suffering greatly with Parkinson's disease. Steve attended our meeting in August when Janice Gage talked about the upcoming "Triple District conferences. The RI President, R. Gordon R. McInally is the Keynote Speaker., and this is a perfect opportunity to meet and interact with Gordon.
President-elect nominee, Kerry Callahan, led the Club Assembly: "The Magic of Rotary." The Strategic Planning Committee, for the Bob Dart Gift, is studying the options for how to best meet the wishes of Mr. Dart and how this club can serve the community with his gift. The Strategic Planning Committee devoted the Club Assembly March 7th to asking members to share their thoughts of what they would like to see the club consider for the legacy gift. Kerry explained that members would consider 5 areas of potential considerations: Youth, Seniors, Public Safety, Economic Development and "Other", a catchall for anything that did not fall in the other 4 categories. This was done in a well-organized system with members in small groups, with 5 leaders who rotated so that every member had the opportunity to provide input in the 5 categories. Today's Club Assembly was spent prioritizing the 5 areas of consideration. Greg reminded members that the Strategic Committee is going into the community to assess what the community at large would like to see from this legacy that Lincoln Rotary is entrusted with. Once this research has been concluded the committee will bring the results to the membership for the final decisions.
Many thanks to everyone who contributed ideas for this Bulletin, and to Jan for proofreading, and Bill for his awesome photos.
